Whatever your running ability – fun or competitive – the event on Sunday 24 March is ideal. Set against the backdrop of Bournemouth’s beautiful seven-mile stretch of sandy beaches, there are four races of various lengths on offer.
Dedicated runners can participate in the Half Marathon or 10km events, the contest is a gentler option, while the 1km children’s race is always popular and fun.
Simply go to the Bournemouth Bay Run website to sign up and join around 4,500 other runners taking part in all the various races.
This annual event supports a number of local charities. In 2024 these are Dorset Mind, Lewis-Manning Hospice Care, the RNLI, Age UK (North, South & West Dorset) and Helping Homeless Veterans UK.
In 2023, over £20,000 was raised for the nominated charities.
Cllr Millie Earl, Deputy Leader, BCP Council said: “The Bournemouth Bay Run is a fantastic opportunity to get involved in running and exercising with different challenges to suit a variety of ages and abilities.
“There is always a great sense of community, camaraderie and, if you wish, healthy competition! Why not sign up over the Christmas holidays and help raise thousands of pounds for the five local charities.”
Cllr Mike Cox, Portfolio Holder for Finance, BCP Council, said: “The Bournemouth Bay Run is a very important annual event for lots of local charities, showcasing our beautiful seafront, promoting a healthy lifestyle and raising awareness and funds for many worthy causes.”
